11 Sep The BEST Street Food in Town
The annual Street Food Festival took place from the 31st August – 09 September 2018 and is a definite on any culinary enthusiast’s calendar. Each year it boasts the very best in Street Food culture, from food trucks, independent food stands, an incredible line up of local Dj’s as well as popular drinks brands offering their very best creations.
Paying homage to the South African mixed food culture, the Street Food festival offers everything from well loved favourites to mac and cheese burgers, traditional paella and fried chicken. Whether you are in the mood for a carb-tastic feast or a health conscious buddha bowl, the festival has you covered.
This year it was hosted inside the demolished chic Cruise Ship terminal at the V&A Waterfront. An open parking area made for the perfect acoustics as a fantastic line up of DJ’s spun their tracks while people feasted and crowds clinked their glasses in celebration. A big shout out to Quicket that made it super easy to get your hands on tickets and made the process easy on arrival.
“Following the success of previous years, in 2018 the Street Food Festival will be expanding to include 10 days of festivities. Smaller pop-up events like food walks, and food movie screenings will lead up to the two big market weekends in Cape Town and Johannesburg dishing up all the good things visitors have come to expect” – www.streetfoodfestival.co.za
I hope to see you at next years Street Food Festival with a G&T in one hand and a charcoal crispy fried chicken burger in your other as you sway your hips to the DJ’s spinning their tracks.
